Bleu De Chanel

For my first fragrance review, Bleu de Chanel.

Since, I was so early at LAX, I managed to browse through the Duty Free fragrance selection.  I smelled almost all of the fragrances for male and my selection was down to two - Bleu De Chanel and Big Pony 3 by Ralph Lauren.

I ended up buying Bleu De Chanel.

It's sophisticated citrus and patchouli notes differentiated it from RL's Big Pony 3.  From the top note itself, the fresh and subtle heaviness make it very flexible in terms of wearability - a fragrance that you can wear everyday, day-in, day-out, formal occasion or not.

The fragrance evolves as the middle notes come into play.  I like the orchestra of peppermint, pepper, and woody notes flirting with the citrus lemon and grapefruit notes.  The fragrance ends with a sweet and subtle combination of cedarwoods and floral jasmine.  Although, I can still smell the citrus notes even after a few hours.

I particularly like the freshness of this fragrance - coming from the citrus and marine notes.  But it was made more interesting when the woods came into play.  It's like saying that you can do whatever you want since its notes are pretty simple and yet smells very sophisticated and light.

Here is the ad for the fragrance:

"I'm not going to be the person I'm expected to be anymore"

Hmmm... I kinda did not like the "Unexpected"" tag line. What was so unexpected about the fragrance? The flirtatious combination of citrusy-woody-floral-ambery notes?  This is actually one of the most common fragrance notes combination for male fragrances. Think Clinique Happy for Men and Cool Water by Davidoff.
